Μια Marketta... μια σταλιά
Tiny Marketta
By Angela Stamatiadou, for FNL Guide: "It's a small world," in this case, fits both the space and the occasion. When I saw at the beginning of autumn that Marketta was being built on Lekka Street, I did not expect that passing through the doorway, I would come across a familiar face. I met the calm, soft-spoken Erika Cross, who came to Greece from Canada thirteen years ago, with studies in catering and specialization in wine, when she was a sommelier at Telemachos Athens….The space was curated by South Architecture: essentially a welcoming kitchen-dining room. The shelf that takes up the wall opposite the tables, loaded with handmade pickles, cookbooks, issues of The Gourmand and Lucky Peach, reminds one of a corner of a foodie's home. Just next to this wall, the display shows what the menu holds: three sandwiches with handmade brioche and focaccia, and four salads, all with a Mediterranean character: simple, fresh, made at that time.
