Gastronomos: Where do we eat the best sandwiches in Athens?

For Kathimerini: The photogenic shop in Lekka is run by Erica, a sweet cook originally from Canada. She likes to make simple, easy meals, like the kind you'd take on a nice picnic, and amps up the Mediterranean flavors with even more herbs, hand-made pickles, some anchovies here and there, and so on. 

Her salads are hearty and have character, but the sandwiches are why we keep coming back to Marketta. In homemade focaccia that she ferments daily, she adds tuna confit, cucumber ribbons, lettuce, fennel, onion, alfalfa sprouts, homemade mayonnaise with dill, and pickled cucumber, and calls it all St.Viateur, I Miss You. Among our favorites is the Guilty Pleasure with chicken schnitzel fried in clarified butter, spicy endive salad, and mayonnaise with ground capers.
